The trouble with the Internet is that there's always new stuff and although this signpost will be around for many years to come one has to wonder just how many will discover it. At least I know for sure I got him one new fan and a whole sale so I shouldn't grumble.

Jim Murdochhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12786388638146471193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6327348657265652781.post-41097550090890800462012-10-21T09:45:23.902+01:002012-10-21T09:45:23.902+01:00As ever, Jim, a thorough and sensitive review that...As ever, Jim, a thorough and sensitive review that speaks as highly of you as of Dick, and made all the more special when it's in praise of a poet we both think so much of.Rachel Fentonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10046917627054462214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6327348657265652781.post-28175592686783387502012-10-13T10:49:51.806+01:002012-10-13T10:49:51.806+01:00If a bad workman can blame his tools then I suppos...If a bad workman can blame his tools then I suppose it's only fair that a good workman should praise his, Jonathan. You work with what you've got. In Dick's case there was an abundance of material to choose from and really my job was reduced to finding a way to organise the material into some kind of logical order. There was lots of stuff I could have talked about and didn't but that's why I love writing online because I can include links for those sufficiently curious to follow. My gut feeling with Dick's poetry is that you don't need to read more than two or three poems to know if he's your cup of tea; he's a reliable poet that way.

Jim Murdochhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12786388638146471193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6327348657265652781.post-58843303739289915312012-10-13T08:49:16.669+01:002012-10-13T08:49:16.669+01:00Very informative. I might have taken a wee while to get round to this but if a job's worth doing then it's worth doing properly.

Jim Murdochhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12786388638146471193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6327348657265652781.post-1799622061503150962012-10-09T15:50:19.496+01:002012-10-09T15:50:19.496+01:00What a wonderfully attentive, thoughtful, well-res...What a wonderfully attentive, thoughtful, well-researched and illuminating review! All praise to you, Jim for being the ideal reader/reviewer and to Dick, whose work unquestionably deserves such brilliant attention and analysis. That doesn’t mean that we’re not every bit as serious as those who have managed to make a name for themselves which is why I believe it’s perfectly justifiable to devote as much time as I have to a writer like you. The odds are against either of us having poems analysed in front of a class of bored Third Years and all I can say is it’s their loss. The odds too of some fourteen-year-old discovering either of our sites are not good either but making that connection, finding that perfect readers is a rare thing no matter what you write. Most of the people who’ll end up reading this will be people who already know your work and know if it’s their cup of tea or not and that’s fine. Maybe it’ll be the reminder they need to order that book they saw you mention several months ago but forgot about.

Jim Murdochhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12786388638146471193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6327348657265652781.post-51488143982893830642012-10-07T21:38:25.220+01:002012-10-07T21:38:25.220+01:00Jim, this exceeds expectations by the proverbial c...Jim, this exceeds expectations by the proverbial country mile and then some! Thanks so much for all the time and labour taken here (I'd forgotten half of what you've managed to research from my back pages!). I've always admired your depth of sourcing and detail of coverage when reviewing. I'm the very grateful subject this time around. Just on the off-chance that your readership might include a fellow enthusiast, here's the contact address for 'Ancient Lights' - www.phoeniciapublishing.com
And thanks again.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
